Conversation avec les anges
(Conversation with the angels)
Installation at La Cambre, Brussels, 2003.
—
Suspended cotton veils on which texts from the Old Testament (Jacob's Dream), from the Koran (Mohamed's Journey) and from Michel Serres (La légende des anges, published in English as Angels: A Modern Myth) can be read.
The natural cotton fibres are eaten away by aluminium sulphate. The texts appear where the fabric is “devoured”, where the material is eliminated.
The installation evokes nomad tents and lightness. We move around inside these texts, and they become part of the light.
